Passenger Drowns At Tangos River

A passenger of fishing boat while enroute at the vicinity of San Roque, Navotas City, Tangos River was drowned at 11:40 am September 15, 2009 .
Initial reports received by Coast Guard Action Center Manila revealed that on about 6:00 am September 16, 2009, CG Det Tangos received the information from a certain Elvira Remigio 48 yrs old, of Barangay Apugan, Tangos, Navotas City about the drowning incident. According to the informant, Junbert Diamante, 29 years old, a resident of Barangay Apugan, Tangos, Navotas City fell overboard from the said fishing boat and failed to re-surface.
On 6:40 am September 16, 2009, personnel of Coast Guard Detachment Tangos together with one (1) team SOG headed by PO1 Wilson Duco PCG proceeded at the scene onboard a rubber boat and conducted search and recovery operation. The dead body of the victim was immediately recovered and was properly turned-over to PO3 Resty C Castillo PNP, duty investigator of Navotas City Police in the presence of relatives of the victim for proper disposition.
Fishing Vessel Jacklyn Catches Fire at Calavite

Fishing vessel Jacklyn owned by Poseidon Shipping with 400 GT caught fire at vicinity Calavite passage at around 9:15 pm September 16, 2009.
Initial reports received by the Coast Guard Action Center Manila revealed that CGDet Calatagan received text message at around 8:53 pm from Police Inspector Manalo, PNP Commander of Lubang Island regarding the fire incident.
Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog personnel contacted Mr. Carlos Remolino, Liaison of Poseidon Shipping, informing the latter that the said fishing vessel encountered minor fire onboard vicinity Calavite passage while enroute from Manila to Palawan.
The fire was declared under control after twenty minutes by the crew of the said fishing vessel using a fire extinguisher. All crewmembers onboard were safe and continued their voyage to Palawan.
29 Passengers onboard LCT Island 1 Brought to Safety

29 passengers and 7 rolling cargoes onboard LCT Island 1 enroute from Hagnaya Wharf, Cebu to Sta Fe, Bantayan Island, Cebu were brought to safety on September 15, 2009. Said vessel departed Hagnaya Wharf on September 15, 2009 at 5:30 AM and encountered engine trouble at vicinity approximately 50 meters away from Hagnaya Wharf.
Commodore Rolando Dizon disclosed that the Master of the vessel, Captain Leopoldo B Andales reported to the incident to Coast Guard Detachment Hagnaya on September 15 at 7:00 AM.
According to Captain Leopoldo, his Chief Engineer conducted inspection and found out that cross bearing of starboard main engine was damaged. Master of said vessel decided to return back to Hagnaya Wharf for safety of vessel/ passengers and cargoes onboard and to conduct repair.
At 6:00 AM, LCT Island 1 properly docked and secured at said Wharf, all passengers and rolling cargoes onboard were disembarked safely and transferred to her sister ship MV Roro 1 and departed at 6:30 AM bound for Sta Fe, Bantayan Island, Cebu.
Further, the Master was advised to file a Marine Protest.
