Sailing ships collide at festival

Grand Turk was one of the ships that collided at the festival

Two sailing ships taking part in a maritime festival at a Norfolk port have been damaged in a collision.
Ropes from the sailing ship Excelsior became entangled with trailing leads from the Grand Turk as they were passing each other off Great Yarmouth.
The top part of the Excelsior's mast snapped off and was left dragging. The ship returned to the port for repairs.
Both ships were taking part in the 10th anniversary of the South Quay event where sailing trips are on offer.
The arrival of some of the sailing ships was delayed because high winds on the North Sea prevented them entering the harbour at Great Yarmouth.
The town's mayor Tony Smith said the event was a success as it had helped to draw more people to the resort as the holiday season slows down.
